Research conducted in Kent State University reveals students multitask more frequently when taking online courses compared to face-to-face classes.

The study surveyed 296 college students, each participant completed an online course as well as a traditional class.

Researchers examined the students’ distracting behaviors including texting, using social networking apps, emailing, off-task internet surfing and found students are more likely to multitask in an environment without a physically present teacher and the presence of other students.
